Campaign at Children's World Montessori

Yesterday (24/8/2009),my friend and I had our campaign at Children's World Montessori preschool.I woke up at 7 in the morning and reached there around 8 o'clock.I was nervous that day because I've never do the activities in preschool with the young children like this. When we were ready to begin our campaign,we waited outside the preschool for every of the children's parents to support our campaign. We talked briefly about our purpose of this campaign to them and asked them to pen down their signature to show their support for this campaign. While the parents signing the signature drive,we also asked for their agreement to let us take their picture as a prove that we do and work hard in this campaign.Besides that,we also give them our life and hope ribbon and our blog address card. But unfortunately,we had already miss out some of the parents to sign up for the campaign because they had to rush to work.
After the signatures had done, the childrens there had a small picnic at just outside their classroom. All of them were really excited and can't wait longer for the picnic to begin. We had been asked to join them together with the picnic.
Our next activities had started just after the picnic is over. The childrens sat down around the circle on the floor and listen to my friend's talk quietly. They were curious to see us present that day. After that,we are divided into two group.I handle the older childrens which are between 4-6years old by showing them the pictures about orangutans while my friend handled the others childrens which are between 2-3 years old. She showed the puzzle to the childrens which contains the picture of orangutans.I explained briefly to the childrens about the facts of orangutans and what can we do to save the orangutans from being extinct. After we had completed our work,we exchange our place with the opposite group to continue our work. It's my turn to show the pictures to the 4-6 years old childrens.
After we had completed doing all that, the childrens had been asked to pair up with their friend for the next coloring activity. We gave them the pictures which prepares by us before this and they all started to coloring it.They were really enjoy their coloring. Some of them can't stop to draw the background by different colour of crayon and colour pencil even they already finished their coloring. All of them were having a lots of fun with the very nice colorful orangutans.
The palm printing begin after it.I helped the childrens to paint up their right hand and cop it on the white cloth one by one.It was really fun and great. The teachers there also very enjoy this activity.
At last, the activities had finished. We distribute the gift packs to each of the childrens before they went home. They gave us a big hug and say thank you to us.They said that they are very happy that day and they had a lots of fun.
I'm very very happy that I had a very wonderful day in my life.I hope that I'll have another chance like this in the future.

Activities In Children's World Montessori

Today we went to the Children's World Montessori to carry out some activities with the children. We went to the school early in the morning as we wanted to collect the signatures from the parents as well. We waited outside at the porch of the school for the children to arrive. As we spot the parents' cars arriving , we walked out and approached the parents with greetings. We introduced ourselves then explained about this campaign that we are promoting. We gave them a Life & Hope ribbon and a blog address card which they happily accepted. Next , we politely ask them to pen down their signature to support our campaign. Most of the parents put up their ribbon in front of us to show their support to this campaign.

After the signature drive and the ribbon distribution , we proceed to plan our next activity. We waited for the children to finish their picnic as they have pre planned their activities for the week. We are very thankful to the teachers as they let us conduct our activities with the children even though they had their own activities that day. While waiting for them to finish their picnic and wash up , we set up our materials in the hall of the school.

We start the activity by introducing them to orangutans. We separated the children into two groups , the 2-3 years old and 4-6 years old. I handled the 2-3 years old group first while my friend , Ruby handled the 4-6 years old group. I showed them a puzzle with a group of primates. I had them complete the puzzle and later show me which is the orangutan. Most of the children manage to get the correct picture. I briefly describe the looks of the orangutans and they listen quietly. While I was doing this , Ruby was showing the pictures of orangutans to the 4-6 years old children. Later , we switch place. It's my turn to show the puzzle to the 4-6 years old children. The children completed the in just a few minutes time. These children recognize the orangutan immediately upon finishing the puzzle. Thus , the introduction of orangutans was very successful.

Next , we move on to the coloring activity. We had the children in pairs , each child has a piece of the coloring paper. We told them to choose their color and color the orangutan picture. The children really enjoyed coloring and we are so happy to see them coloring with effort and concentration. When they finished , we took pictures of their colored orangutans . The teachers later paste their orangutans on a bulletin board.  What a wonderful pictures we have with lots of colorful orangutans!!

What follow next was palm printing. The teachers helped us to supervise the children as they print their palm on the piece of cloth we prepared. The teachers also gave supports by printing their palms on the cloth with the children.  We are even more excited when the children came to us and told us that they really have fun and enjoyed the activities today. I was so happy that I ended up hugging them and say thank you.

Sadly , the activity has to end. While distributing the gift packs to the children , they came and hugged us with big smiles on their faces.   The joy on their faces really made our day, even though it is not easy working with young children.  This activity was so meaningful to us. We are so happy that all the children really love this activity. The children were talking about orangutans the whole morning and we hope they will continue to remember this special creature and protect them in the future.

I am waiting for another chance to participate in a campaign like this. This is not something that comes into our life everyday.

The Ribbon of Life & Hope

The green & purple ribbons were given to the students who support this campaign. The green ribbon means "life" while the purple ribbon means "hope". We use it to create awareness that the orangutans are about to extinct. We need all the students to spread the message to their friends and families. We NEED and MUST save the orangutans from being extinct. We want our children to have a chance to see this beautiful creature in real life instead of through pictures and videos. Their life and hope is in our hands.

The wonderful people around us giving full support to our Life & Hope ribbons.

Save the orangutans and support world peace!!

We will definitely put on these ribbons during the school holidays!!

Hey! Wait! Let him pin up the ribbon to show support !!!  Well, the important thing is we all will support this campaign!

Thank you teachers for being so supportive!! We love you and I'm sure the orangutans love you too!!

Nothing beats the cheerful smiles in supporting this campaign.

Cool.... I'm not smiling doesn't mean that I am not supporting.  I am giving a serious look because people have to be serious about this issue.  The extinction of orangutans is no joke!!
